There are many wonderful opportunities to do research at GW during your residency. We have multiple research options not only at GW but also through our affiliated hospitals Holy Cross, Children’s National, and NIH. Information for the affiliates is located in the tabs.

Grand Rounds are held each week on Wednesday morning from 7 – 8 AM.

Welcome to the Department of Neurological Surgery at the George Washington University. We are one of three university-based neurosurgery departments located within the District of Columbia.
The George Washington University Neurological Surgery Residency is a 7-year program designed to foster each resident’s operatives skills, clinical knowledge, and leadership abilities through close mentoring from our dedicated faculty.
The Dr. Harvey Ammerman Microsurgical Lab was dedicated in 1998, and is designed to augment the training of Neurosurgery Residents. In the Ammerman Lab the residents will receive structured programmed training in surgical approaches via cadaveric dissections.
