Goals and Objectives:
PGY6 Neurosurgery – Clinical Year
Surgical expectations:
- perform all major intracranial and spine procedures with minimal assistance
- Perform all functional neurosurgery procedures
- independently perform craniotomy with removal of brain tumors
- Independently split the sylvan fissure
- craniotomy for aneurysm clipping and endovascular surgery
- routine angiography without assistance with embolization of aneurysms
- perform transsphenoidal endoscopic procedures
- independently perform carotid endarterectomies
- Operative log maintenance
Clinical expectations:
- Responsible for running the in-patient service at Holy Cross Hospital
- Participation in lab surgical approach course
- Attend Journal Club and all conferences
- Participation at “All City Grand Rounds”
- Lecture and assist in the evaluation of Medical Students
- Operative residency cumulative data
- Report quality project
- Simulated patient workshop
- The written part I ABNS exam must be passed at 50th percentile
